Reimbursement of Psychological Treatments

If you were injured in a traffic accident, the SAAQ may reimburse psychological treatments.

What you should know

You will be reimbursed under these 3 conditions:

• the treatments are related to the accident and medically required
• the treatments were prescribed by a physician or specialized nurse practitioner
• the treatments were given by a psychologist who is member of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec⁠ ⁠ or by a psychotherapist who holds a licence issued by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec.

We base our decision on the information provided by the attending physician or specialized nurse practitioner.

Reimbursable amounts

At a private clinic

We reimburse a maximum of $115 per treatment.

Claiming reimbursement from the SAAQ

Expenses are reimbursed on presentation of the following documents:

• the prescription

AND

• the receipt or invoice

It is your psychologist or psychotherapist who completes the reimbursement claim form and sends it to us with the supporting documents.

Make sure your claim number is written on both these documents.
