Reimbursement of Chiropractic Care Expenses

If you were injured in a traffic accident, the SAAQ may reimburse chiropractic treatment expenses.

What you should know

You will be reimbursed under these 3 conditions:

• the treatments are related to the accident and medically required
• the treatments were prescribed by a physician or specialized nurse practitioner
• the treatments were given by a professional who is a member of the Ordre des chiropraticiens du Québec⁠ ⁠

We may end the reimbursement of treatments where they no longer improve your physical condition.

We base our decision on the information provided by the chiropractor and the clinical examination notes provided by the attending physician or specialized nurse practitioner.

Reimbursable amounts

At a private clinic

We reimburse a maximum of $47 per treatment.

At home

If the nature of your injuries requires you to receive chiropractic treatments at home, we reimburse a maximum of $73 per treatment.

X-rays

We reimburse a maximum of 3 X-rays per year, if they are taken by a chiropractor who holds a radiology licence issued by the Ordre des chiropraticiens du Québec.

Claiming reimbursement

Expenses are reimbursed on presentation of the following documents:

• the prescription

AND

• the receipt or invoice

Remember to write your claim number on both these documents.
