2015 Seat Belt Campaign
“Buckle Up. Even at Night.”
Still today, more than 30% of drivers and passengers killed in traffic accidents were not buckled up. Wearing a seat belt reduces by half the risk of being killed or seriously injured in an accident. If all Quebecers buckled up, 40 deaths and 95 serious injuries could be avoided every year.
The 2015 campaign – “Buckle Up. Even at Night.” – aimed to encourage drivers and passengers, particularly men ages 25 to 49, to take this safety measure, both during the day and at night.
Every year, on average:
- 80 people are killed in a traffic accident while they were not wearing their seat belt
- 190 people sustain serious injuries under the same conditions
These accidents occur in greater proportion on weekends, between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.
