In 2015, the SAAQ marked the start of the cycling season with a major campaign to encourage drivers and cyclists to respect each other and to share the road safely.
The goal of the 2015 campaign – on the theme “Let's respect one another” – was to make drivers and cyclists aware of the importance of watching out for each other. More specifically, drivers were encouraged to make more room for cyclists on the road, to look before opening car doors and, like cyclists, be cautious at intersections. Cyclists were also encouraged to stay away from heavy vehicle blind spots.
92% of Quebecers think that sharing the road between motorists and cyclists is a road safety issue of particular concern.
