Alcofrein Program

Alcofrein is an education program that aims to increase the participants' awareness about the effects of alcohol- and drug-use problems in order to prevent repeat offences.

What is the Alcofrein program?

The following aspects of impaired driving are addressed:

  • Personal, social, financial and legal consequences
  • Myths and beliefs about alcohol, drugs, and driving
  • Alternative solutions

For whom is the program intended?

This program is for any person convicted of a first impaired-driving offence and who must undergo a summary assessment:

  • Further to a favourable decision, the person must participate in the Alcofrein education program.
  • Further to an unfavourable decision, the person must undergo a comprehensive assessment as part of the program to assess and reduce the risk of impaired driving (website in French only).

How long does the program last?

An Alcofrein session lasts three hours.

How much does it cost?

Each participant must pay $150 to participate in the session.
