Appointment to Have Driving Experience Acquired Outside Québec Recognized

To have driving experience acquired outside Québec recognized, you must request an appointment by filling out the form below. We will call or email you within 20 business days of receiving the form in order to inform you of the next steps.

If you do not have a driver’s licence, do not fill out this form. If you wish to obtain a Québec driver’s licence, you must complete a driving course.

You cannot obtain a Québec driver’s licence if you are in any of the following situations:

  • You have the right to remain in Canada for 6 months or less
  • You have visitor status (unless the exceptions below apply to you)
  • You have a temporary resident permit (unless the exceptions below apply to you)

Exceptions:

You can register for a driving course and obtain a Québec driver’s licence if you have visitor status or a temporary resident permit and you meet the following three criteria:

  • You are a Ukrainian national, or the spouse or a child of a Ukrainian national
  • You obtained the right to remain in Canada for more than 6 months on or after February 24, 2022
  • You arrived in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program

    Note that the service centres in the following cities only exchange Canadian driver’s licences held by Canadian citizens: Alma, Dorval, Lachute, Langelier, Matane, Mont-Laurier, Roberval, Saint-Jérôme, Sorel-Tracy, Val-d’Or.

This information may be shared with its licensing agents and certain government departments or agencies, including those located outside Québec, in accordance with the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information. It may also be used for statistical, survey, study, audit or investigative purposes. Failure to provide this information can result in a refusal of service. You may consult, correct or obtain a copy of any personal information concerning you.
