Government authentication in service centres

While the simplest way to create a Government Authentication Service account is to do so online, the authentication process can also be carried out at any SAAQ service centre if you are in one of the following situations:

  • You do not have all the information required to prove your identity.
  • You are having trouble proving your identity.
  • You are in any other situation that prevents you from creating your account online.

CRITERIA

You must have:

  • a Health Insurance Card issued by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec

What you need to bring with you

Since your identity is verified in the presence of a staff member, you simply need to present two pieces of identification, including one with your photo. You must also give us the number of your Health Insurance Card. Proof of identity that has an expiry date must be valid at the time of presentation.

Accepted pieces of identification:

  • Québec Health Insurance Card
  • Québec driver’s licence
  • Canadian or foreign passport*
  • Canadian permanent resident card
  • Canadian citizenship card
  • Canadian Armed Forces identity card 
  • birth certificate issued in Québec or in another Canadian province or territory
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status
  • an official letter or document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada that confirms refugee status

*A passport in a language other than French or English must be presented with an official translation.

Before heading out, make sure you also have:

  • an email address and your password so you can access your inbox
  • your banking information (found on your cheques or your financial institution’s online banking service), you wish to carry out financial transactions on SAAQclic

If you have already created a Government Authentication Service account, but you are unable to log in to SAAQclic, you will need:

  • the username or email address used to create your account
  • your account password
  • the security code you received by email in the previous 30 days

You can make an appointment at a service centre, or go directly to a SAAQclic helpdesk.
