Rebate on Driver’s Licence Fees for 2026

Québec drivers will be given a 75% rebate on the insurance contribution portion of their 2026 driver’s licence fees. For example, Class 5 driver’s licence holders who have no demerit points will pay $50 instead of the originally anticipated cost of $121. In total, nearly $462 M will stay in Quebecers’ wallets in 2026.

This rebate is possible due to the superior performance of the Fonds d’assurance automobile du Québec and a decrease in the number of traffic accident victims since 2020 (particularly during the pandemic). Payment holidays were granted in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
