Driver's licence photos will be reused in 2025

If your plasticized driver’s licence is set to expire in 2025, the SAAQ will reuse the photo it currently has on file to issue your new plasticized licence. This will allow you to avoid having to go to a service outlet to renew your licence and have your photo taken.

The SAAQ will send your driver’s licence renewal notice by mail, followed by your new plasticized licence in a second mailing. We encourage you to pay your driver’s licence renewal fees through your financial institution (online or at the counter) or by mail.

Reusing your driver’s licence photo means that you can avoid having to go to a service outlet, resulting in more available appointment times for others.

Health insurance card renewal

To renew your health insurance card, you must complete and sign your renewal notice and mail it to the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ). You no longer have to go to the SAAQ.

The RAMQ will reuse the photo they have on file to produce your new plasticized health insurance card for 2025.
