Deadline extended for paying driver's licence and vehicle registration renewal fees

If your driver’s licence or vehicle registration is up for renewal between December 20, 2024 and February 28, 2025, you now have until March 31, 2025 to pay the renewal fees.

This grace period has been granted because of the delay in mailing out payment notices as a result of the Canada Post labour dispute. Driver’s licences and vehicle registration certificates covered by the grace period will remain valid until the end of March. 

Essentially, all driver’s licence holders whose birthday falls between December 20, 2024 and February 28, 2025, inclusive, as well as all road vehicle owners whose last name begins with the letter A, B, C or W have until March 31, 2025 to pay their annual driver’s licence or vehicle registration renewal fees. 

Nearly 2.6 million Quebecers are affected by this grace period, which will ensure they have adequate time to pay the fees owed.  

Good to know

Snowmobile, snowblower and winter tool vehicle operators are also covered by this measure and have been granted the same grace period for paying their renewal fees.
