This awareness campaign aims to encourage drivers to slow down and leave as much space as possible between their vehicle and a vehicle that is stopped by the roadside or in a traffic lane (emergency vehicle, surveillance vehicle or tow truck), after making sure they can do so safely. It also reminds them that the Move-Over Law applies everywhere on the road network.
Obeying the Move-Over Law—It’s Mandatory
Failing to comply with the Move-Over Law, whether on a highway, rural road or city street, can lead to a fine of $200 to $300 and 4 demerit points on the driver’s record.
