2008 Pedestrians Campaign
“Pedestrians and Motorists, Be Vigilant!”
From October 1 to 31, 2008, for a second year in a row, Pedestrian Month aimed to raise public awareness about pedestrian safety.
Throughout pedestrian month, a radio ad entitled “Pedestrians and Motorists, Be Vigilant” was rebroadcast. The ad encouraged pedestrians and drivers to obey traffic signs and signals and to remain vigilant and courteous at all times.
Every day in Québec, approximately 10 pedestrians are victims of a traffic accident. In 2007, 3,506 pedestrians were involved in an accident with an automobile, including 83 fatalities and 367 individuals with serious injuries.
