Mandatory class 1 training
With a view to improving road safety, as of December 15, 2025, anyone who wishes to obtain a Class 1 heavy vehicle driver’s licence will have to successfully complete a training course. Two options exist:
the new Class 1 Road Safety Education Program given by service providers recognized by the SAAQ the Trucking vocational training program leading to a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) issued by the Ministère de l'Éducation
