Prevention and awareness
In addition to monitoring vehicle compliance for the transportation of goods and passengers, carrier enforcement officers conduct prevention and awareness activities on road safety and the regulations they enforce.
Specialized team
A team of carrier enforcement officers across Québec has been trained in prevention and road safety awareness.
Different types of activities are offered:
- Information sessions
- Presentations
- Trade show stands
- Public events (e.g. community family events)
- Presentations in schools
- Conferences or conventions
Presentations and information sessions can be held remotely. Note that carrier enforcement officers do not provide training
Themes
Many subjects can be addressed in prevention and awareness activities based on the target audience. Carrier enforcement officers know how to adapt to each audience.
Sample activities
- Mats placed around heavy vehicles (dump trucks, city buses, etc.) to demonstrate the size of blind spots
- Playmobil-type toy trucks and roadway play mats to show children the dangers of blind spots
- Virtual reality driving simulator to raise awareness of what is involved in heavy vehicle driving
