Electric, Plug-In Hybrid or Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle

Change

Effective October 26, 2017, electric, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles must bear a green licence plate.

Privileges associated with a green licence plate

  • Free access to several ferries throughout Québec
  • Privileged access to reserved lanes, where allowed by signs and signals
  • Free access, as part of a pilot project, to the Highway 25 toll bridge and the toll section of Highway 30 upon obtaining a transponder from toll authorities
  • Free parking in certain municipalities

These privileges are among the various measures that have been taken to encourage people to use electric vehicles, which also include the installation of charging stations along major roadways and near some buildings.
