Large Cylinder Capacity Vehicles Exempt from the Acquisition and Additional Annual Registration Fees
You may be exempted from paying the acquisition and additional annual registration fees for certain large cylinder capacity vehicles, depending on how the vehicle is used.
Even if their engine has a cylinder capacity of 3.95 litres or more, the following vehicles could be exempted from the additional registration and acquisition fees:
- vehicles adapted for the transportation of wheelchair-bound passengers
- minibuses for a family of 9 or more people living at the same address
- driving school vehicles
- ambulances
- tow trucks
- buses used to carry school children
- farm vehiclesA motor vehicle that is a truck, pick-up truck or minivan owned by a farmer (a person holding a registration card issued by the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec, or a person who is a member of an association certified under the Farm Producers Act) and used mainly for the transportation of farm produce or material required in its production.
