You are allowed to drive on Québec roads with your foreign driver's licence for 6 consecutive months, provided that you comply with the following conditions:
If your driver's licence is in a language other than English or French, it is strongly recommended that you obtain an international driving permit before coming to Québec.
You must hold a valid international driving permit to be allowed to continue to drive on Québec roads after 6 consecutive months.
You are not required to hold an international driving permit if you are a student or trainee. You are allowed to drive a passenger vehicle, a motorcycle, a moped or a scooter for the duration of your studies or traineeship with your foreign driver's licence provided that the licence is valid and bears the appropriate class for the type of vehicle used. However, you must be able to demonstrate your status as a student or trainee if asked by a peace officer.
