Temporary Rebate on Vehicle Registration

To help vehicle owners cope with rising gas prices, a rebate of up to $50 on registration renewal fees is being granted for most passenger vehicles. 

This measure is in force for registration renewal payments due between September 1, 2026 and August 31, 2027 and applies only once to each eligible vehicle registered in the name of an individual.

The amount indicated on your renewal notice includes the applicable rebate.

Eligible passenger vehicles:

• gas-powered 
• diesel-powered 
• hybrid 
• plug-in hybrid
• methanol-powered
• ethanol-powered
• compressed natural gas-powered
• propane-powered

Exclusions:

• 100% electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
• motorcycles, mopeds and scooters
• motor homes
• commercial vehicles
