Licence Fees for the Current Year

Here are the costs to obtain a driver's licence based on the class of licence.

Note: The fees indicated below are applicable to a driving record with no demerit points.

Classes 1, 2 and 3

Knowledge Test $11.00

Learner's Licence

$57.40 (valid 18 months, includes cost of photos)

Road Test

  • $11.00: pre-trip inspection
  • $54.75: driving a heavy vehicle

  • Regular licence: $93.04 maximum per year (year starts on your birthday)

Classes 6A, 6B, 6C and 6E

Knowledge Test $11.00

Learner's Licence
  • $60.91 (valid 18 months, includes cost of photos)
  • Class 6R learner's licence (issued only for driving on a closed track during road tests for Classes 6A, 6B and 6C)

Road Test
  • $27.50: closed track test. After passing the closed track test, an applicant can obtain a Class 6A, 6B or 6C learner's licence, for a $6.55 fee.
  • This licence allows practice on the road.

  • Probationary licence: $184.34 (amount for 24 months)
  • Regular licence: $99.87/year
  • Changes to the licence: $15.20 (to add or remove a class, includes cost of photo)
  • Regular licence (Class 5), with Classes 6A, 6B, 6C or 6E: $171.92/year
  • Probationary licence  with Classes 5 and 6A, 5 and 6B or 5 and 6C: $328.33 (maximum amount, fee based on validity period)
