The annual road safety record presents the number of victims involved in traffic accidents on Québec roads over the 6 previous years. It includes detailed statistics based on the types of injuries sustained, types of road users, age groups, and regions.

2022 Road Safety Record

In 2022, there were fewer traffic accident victims when compared to the average for the previous 5 years.

Here are the main points:

  • 392 people were killed on our roads, 46 more than the 2017-2021 average, which corresponds to a 13.2% increase.
  • Compared to the 2017-2021 average, the number of fatalities:
    • decreased by 14% among 15- to 24-year-olds
    • increased by 21.8% among victims aged 75 or older
    • increased by 10.1% among motorcyclists
    • increased by 22,7% among pedestrians
    • decreased by 22.4% among cyclists
  • 1,275 people sustained serious injuries: this is a 4.2% decrease compared to 2017 -2021 average 
  • 27,048 people sustained minor injuries: this is an 11% decrease compared to the 2017-2021 average
