2016 Drinking and Driving Regional Campaign


"Where we’re from, when we drink, we don’t drive"

In order to improve the road safety record, the SAAQ relies on targeted and innovative campaigns. In 2016, it has teamed up with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens hockey team for an anti-drinking and driving campaign in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean.

The SAAQ’s regional campaign – “Where We’re From, When We Drink, We Don’t Drive” – is aimed at the whole of the region’s population. It stresses the importance of friends, family and colleagues intervening in order to prevent impaired driving.

Between 2010 and 2014 in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, 45% of fatally-injured drivers who were subjected to a blood-alcohol test had alcohol in their blood. That percentage is higher than the Québec average, which is 42.6%.
