Social Media Content Management Policy

The SAAQ's social media content management policy defines, among other things, netiquette, moderation rules that apply to comments submitted by Web users and the requirements applicable to the protection of privacy.

We are happy to welcome you to our various discussion platforms. You have come to the right place to get informed, express yourself and share your ideas and concerns about road safety and our services.

Because we believe that working together makes us stronger, we want to use social media so that good ideas gain traction. Be part of the solution!

Please note that we cannot always monitor our feeds and post to our accounts in real time.

Netiquette is the set of practices developed over the years to guide users' behaviour on the Web, especially during discussions on social media and through email.

We encourage discussion and opinion sharing among our followers. However, it becomes less interesting for everyone when a debate turns into a private discussion among a few participants.

Adding links to other sites is authorized, as long as content is related to subjects being discussed. We are not responsible for the content of outside sites.

Using uppercase in a message is considered shouting. Comments are just as valid and much easier to read when they are written in lowercase.

Although we keep an open mind, we reserve the right to change this policy of use at any time and without prior notice.

All comments will be read and considered.

However, we may delete comments that:

  • are defamatory, hateful, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, sexist or rude
  • constitute a form of advertisement, including promotion of products or services
  • are published several times
  • are off-topic
  • contain confidential information, such as personal information

Protection of privacy and personal information

We are committed to respecting privacy. We cannot go into the particulars of a specific case on social media.

If you want to post photos or videos on our social media pages, make sure that you have the consent of the persons who appear in them.

Protect your personal information and the information of others: be cautious and discreet so that you don't reveal sensitive or personal information if you want to talk about your own experiences.

Intellectual property

We are committed to respecting intellectual property. We will not pay in any way persons who submit:

  • ideas
  • screenplays
  • proposals
  • concepts
  • etc.

To get informed or to exchange on Twitter, use the #securiteroutiere and #saaq hashtags. Gino (G.D.) and Audrey (A.C.) manage the SAAQ's account.

Due to Twitter's 140-character limit, we use as well as to refer to our Web site.

Our decision to follow users on Twitter does not mean that we support them. We follow accounts that we consider relevant to our mission and our status as a public body.

We will withdraw or block followers if we find that their tweets are inappropriate.
