Filing a Claim for Compensation (accident or death benefits)

You may use this service to file a claim for compensation in the event of an accident or a claim for death benefits

Accident victims or their representative have 3 years from the date of the accident or the date of death to file a claim with the SAAQ.

Certain types of accident are excluded from the plan.

Before you start

Have on hand, where applicable:

  • Health Insurance Number (HIN)
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • driver's licence number
  • banking information for direct deposit
  • date of the accident
  • licence plate number of the vehicle involved in the accident
  • number of the accident report filled out by a police officer
  • contact information for the witness
  • spouse's and dependants' Health Insurance Number
  • information on the employment held at the time of the accident, including an approximate date of hire

Who can use this service?

Anyone who has been involved in a traffic accident or their representative.

Time required

Depending on your situation, plan for 10 to 30 minutes to file your claim.

Monday through Saturday, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Sunday, from noon to 11:00 p.m.

Important: Any operation completed after 11:00 p.m. will not be recorded.
