Making an Appointment for a Driving Test – Automobiles (Class 5)

You can make an appointment online for a knowledge or road test to obtain a Class 5 driver's licence.

AVAILABILITY OF ROAD TEST APPOINTMENTS

You can make an appointment for the month of February for a knowledge test or driver’s licence exchange. For road tests, appointments will be available on:

  • December 15 for road tests at service centres in the Montréal and Laval areas (Dorval, Granby, Henri-Bourassa, Langelier, Laval, Longueuil, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Sorel et Valleyfield)
  • December 17 for all other service centres

If you cannot make it to your appointment, please change or cancel your appointment as soon as possible to allow another person to take your place.

A Class 5 licence authorizes its holder to drive:

  • an automobile
  • a motor home, also known as a recreational vehicle (RV)
  • a tool vehicle, such as a grader or loader
  • a service vehicle, such as a tow truck

A Class 5 licence also authorizes its holder to drive:

  • a moped or scooter (Class 6D)
  • a farm tractor (Class 8)

To make an appointment for a knowledge or road test to obtain a Class 5 driver's licence, you must be at least 16 years of age.

On the day of the test

COVID-19 MEASURES

Make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time of your road test. This time is necessary to put our health measures in place.

You must wear a face covering in all our service outlets, including during knowledge and road tests.

To prepare for tests to obtain a new licence or exchange your driver's licence, you can purchase the Road Access Binder from the Association québécoise des transports (AQTr) or at recognized driving schools. The list of schools is available on the AQTr's Web site.
