Making an Appointment for a Driving Test – Emergency Vehicles (Class 4A)

You can make an appointment online for a knowledge test to obtain a Class 4A driver's licence.

You can make an appointment for the months of October and November. Appointments for the month of December will be available as of:

  • October 8 for knowledge tests
  • October 22 for road tests
    • As of 7:30 a.m. for service centres in the Montréal and Laval areas:
      • Henri-Bourassa
      • Dorval
      • Langelier
      • Longueuil
      • Granby
      • Saint-Hyacinthe
      • Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu
      • Sorel
      • Valleyfield
      • Laval
    • As of 1 p.m. for all other service centres

If you cannot make it to your appointment, please change or cancel your appointment as soon as possible to allow another person to take your place.

To make an appointment for a knowledge test to obtain a Class 4A driver's licence, you must have 24 months of experience as a holder of a Class 5 probationary licence or driver's licence, or hold a Class 5 probationary licence or driver's licence and have passed an emergency vehicle driving course recognized by the SAAQ.

Before the test

You must:

  • have provided us with a medical report
  • have undergone a vision test

On the day of the test



You must wear a face covering in all our service outlets, including during knowledge and road tests.

Have on hand:

  • the identity documents and other documents specified in your appointment confirmation

Approximate duration of the test

Knowledge test: 1 hour

Important: Any operation completed after 11:00 p.m. will not be recorded.
