What You Should Know

If you reach or exceed the number of demerit points in your bracket, your licence will be revoked and your right to obtain one suspended.

Your licence will be revoked for 3, 6 or 12 months based on:

  • the number of demerit points accumulated with regard to your demerit point bracket
  • the length of the most recent penalty imposed on you in the previous 2 years

During the penalty period, you may apply for a restricted licence, which only authorizes you to drive to exercise the duties of your main employment.

What does licence revocation mean?

A licence that is revoked means that it is cancelled. You must therefore go through the process of obtaining a new licence, that is, by passing a reinstatement knowledge test.
