Operating a taxi illegallyChange
To reacquire your driver’s licence after it was suspended for illegally operating a taxi, you must file an Application to lift suspension of a driver’s licence or the right to obtain one with the Court of Québec.
If you offer or provide a taxi transportation service without holding a Class 4C licence and a taxi permit, a peace officer or an authorized municipal employee will suspend your licence or your right to obtain one for 7, 30, or 90 days depending on how many times you have committed this offence in the past 10 years. The vehicle you are driving will be seized and impounded for a period of time equal to that of your licence suspension.

You must file with the Court of Québec an application to have the suspension of your driver’s licence (or your right to obtain such a licence) lifted. The only justification that can be used is that you did not offer or provide a taxi transportation service without holding the appropriate licence and a taxi permit.
Go to an SAAQ service centre to have the suspension lifted.
You must file an Application for Vehicle Release from Seizure with the Court of Québec.
Go to the pound where your vehicle is being held with the judgment from the Court of Québec. You can recover your vehicle on payment of towing and impoundment fees as well as the applicable taxes. Your licence suspension will be lifted by the SAAQ during our business hours.
You must wait until the impoundment and/or licence suspension period is over. Then you may begin to drive again without having to go to an SAAQ service outlet.
