Obtaining a Licence

Eligibility

To obtain a Class 8 licence, you must:

• be at least 16 years of age
• have the written consent of your father, mother or legal guardian, if you are under age 18
• fill out the Questionnaire to Complete Before Taking a Driving Course (PDF, 237.4 ko), if this is your first licence, and meet the medical requirements

If you are not a Canadian citizen

You must provide proof that you are authorized to stay in Canada for more than 6 months.

You must schedule an appointment before undertaking the procedure to obtain a Class 8 driver's licence.

A clerk will ask you which official documents you have in your possession (Permanent Resident Card, passport, etc.) to determine your status and check which procedure applies to your situation.
