Mandatory driving course

You are required to pass the 6-hour Road Safety Education Program – Operating a Moped or Motorized Scooter driving course. Before registering for the course, you must fill out the required questionnaire (PDF, 237.4 ko) in order to determine your fitness to drive.

The driving course must be taken at a driving school recognized by the Association québécoise des transports (AQTr – website in French only).

The driving course consists of:

  • a 3-hour theoretical component
  • a 3-hour closed track practical component. The last half-hour is reserved for your evaluation

You will learn:

  • basic concepts about driving a scooter
  • safe driving rules
  • risks associated with driving

You will be asked which official documents you have in your possession (Permanent Resident Card, passport, etc.) to determine your status and check which procedure applies to your situation.
