There are 3 main licence classes to drive heavy vehicles: Class 1 to drive combinations of road vehicles; Class 2 to drive buses with a seating capacity of more than 24 passengers; and Class 3 to drive trucks.
Amendments to road vehicle safety standards will take effect on November 20, 2016. The amendments made will more closely align Québec’s standards with those of the other Canadian provinces. These amendments will affect the content of the knowledge and road tests that lead to obtaining a higher licence class. The tests will be modified as of November 21, 2016 and will be based on the new Driving a Heavy Vehicle guide. To prepare for the tests, you can buy the new version of the guide, available for purchase from Publications du Québec as of August 1, 2016.
