Driving Record Request

You can request a copy of a driving record for yourself or other drivers that have given you their authorization.

A driving record mainly contains information about:

  • classes associated with the driver's licence as well as the status of the licence (valid, cancelled, suspended, revoked)
  • the holder's demerit point bracket and the number of demerit points accumulated
  • offences committed
  • events related to driving a heavy vehicle, presented in an abbreviated format
  • conditions and endorsements added to the licence
  • medical restrictions
  • driving experience

Who can request driving records?

  • You can request a copy of your own record or someone else's record, with the person's consent
  • An insurer, an employer, a vehicle fleet owner or an investigator, for third parties who have given their consent.

You will receive a copy of the document by mail at the address that appears in your record within 5 to 10 business days after we receive your request.

Driving Record Request

By mail or by fax

  1. Complete the Application for the Driver’s Abstract of a Person Residing or Temporarily Living Outside Québec (PDF, 107.4 ko) on-screen and print it out.
  2. Submit your request by mail or by fax:

You will receive the driving record you requested by mail or by fax.

If you are requesting one or more records of other drivers — Fees apply

  1. Request authorization from each individual whose driving record you wish to obtain. Authorizations must be less than 12 months old on the date on which we receive your request.
  2. Complete the Driving Record Search (PDF, 127.6 ko) form on-screen before printing it out.
    • Make sure to arrange the authorizations in the same order as the driver's licence numbers listed on the form.
    • If you have an account number for your monthly billing, enter it in the appropriate box. Otherwise, enter your business’s identification number.
  3. If you do not have an account at the SAAQ, pay by cheque or money order made payable to the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec.  Consult the applicable fees for each driving record.
  4. Send your request, the authorizations as well as your payment to:

You will receive the driving records by mail within 10 business days after we have received your request.
